Jim Bender has been the Head Golf Professional at Ardsley Country Club for the past 32 years.

Jim grew up in Westfield, New Jersey and played Junior Golf at the Echo Lake Country Club. Jim attended the University of Florida in Gainesville and graduated from Rutgers University in 1979, where he was a member of the golf team and won the 1976 St. Johnís Invitational at Bethpage Black and was runner-up at the Fall Eastern Intercollegiate Championship. After graduation, Jim turned professional and worked under Russell Helwig, PGA at Essex Fells Country Club.

In the fall of 1982, Jim was hired as the Head Golf Professional at Ardsley and began a lifelong relationship with the members of the club. His extensive teaching and tournament programs have helped enhance the overall experience for members and their guests. Jimís ability to merchandise the golf shop, providing the highest quality of products and asset presentation, has earned him PGA Merchandiser of the Year twice in his career.

Jim has represented his fellow PGA professionals both nationally and in the Metropolitan PGA Section as Section President. His position on the National Education Committee helped formulate the current way golf professionals earn their PGA Membership. With Jimís experiences and education he has helped many young assistant professionals become head golf professionals. Jimís playing background includes three PGA National Club Professional Championships and a season on the South African Tour. His top sectional finishes include a local qualifier for the US Open and a top ten finish in the section PGA Championship. Jim's accomplishments earned him the honor of being named Metropolitan PGA Golf Professional of the year in 1998. In 2012, Jim was awarded the Bill Strausbaugh Award by the Met PGA as well as being a finalist for the National Award. Jim is currently a Master Staff Professional with the Callaway Golf Company. He has been named Regional Club Fitter of the year three times and National Club Fitter of the year twice. In 2011, Jim was named as Callaway's Golf Professional of the Year.

Jimís wife, Amy, and their five children - Carol Ann (24), Kelly (22), Jimmy (21), Jack (19), and Katy (15) - reside in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
